A great resource for the Lit classroom.

I recently changed from teaching Freshman Composition to teaching American Literature and, I can admit, I was a bit nervous about the shift. I'd honed my classroom activities to a knife's edge with these other readings, after all, and now I needed to switch to an entirely new genre.

This book actually really helped. I got the kindle version and ended up reading it on vacation. For those of us who love pedagogy, it's actually a pretty fascinating read. The activities run the gamut from traditional to non-traditional and the book helpfully advices what sized classes each one works with best, from small to medium and large. As I have 36 in a face-to-face class, we definitely fall under "large" but I'm able to use the small and medium exercises in small groups.

This is just a collection of interesting, well-explained activities and exercises for the literature classroom that have been tried and tested. Not all will work for everyone, of course--as always, much of this is up to teaching persona. Even if something doesn't quite work for you, though, they're flexible enough that you can modify them to work for you.

A very important book for everyone who designs, visits and loves public parks!

I lived in New York for 40 years and, as an artist and photographer, spent many hours in Central Park. I have visited many of the great parks in Europe and Latin America, but none - none! are as well conceived, designed, people-oriented and beautiful as New York's Central Park. Olmsted's philosophy, human concerns, democratic ideals in designing parks, and his place in history (as the Industrial Revolution took hold, and working-class people moved into crowded cities), are all expressed in this book. I highly recommend the book to everyone who lives in a city or town anywhere; to people who play outdoor games, exercise, have children, love birds and squirrels and growing things! And the millions of people who love and have loved Central Park and Olmsted's other parklands across America.

Repetitive and pedantic rantings of an egotist

Repetitive and pedantic rantings of an egotist. I cannot believe Montreal waited 3 years for his response to their interest in a park at Mont Royal.

The photographs have been reproduced very poorly in this paperback edition. They are either blurry or too dark to see anything.

My name is Ella Price. I have been writing since I was eight. I started out with poetry. Eventually, I moved on to short fantasy stories, then eventually books. I have always loved books, whether I was reading them or writing them. Books were always a perfect escape from reality. When I was growing up, I admired authors and I imagined I would eventually be one. The primary genre I write is fantasy romance. I love creating tough heroines and sexy vampires, werewolves, Fae, and every other supernatural creature I can come up with. I also write new adult romance when I am in the right mood. I don't know....personally I'm a lover for romance and paranormal romance....I didn't expect Hailey to become righteous and so judging....I mean she has friends that she loves are vampires, mega her best friend are vampires. It's like she just thought all vampires are evil (apparently she forgot about Alec). I personally don't like how it turning nut will read the next book to see.

I enjoy this author's writing. I was hoping for a satisfying resolution after what an aggravating ending the first book left. Unfortunately, this one was left equally unsatisfying. As much as I wanted to love this book, it gets four glittery stars for the ending once again.

GOOD BUT NEEDS WORK

This is not a bad book, but it does present some problematic theories. For example, there is a chapter that states that Le Corbusier was inspired by John Ruskin, a suggestion that is in radical opposition to his career path. There were more chances of Le Corbusier finding inspiration in Proto-Modernist, such as Auguste Perret, than there were in him being inspired by Pre-Raphaelite / Arts & Crafts leaders, this assessment is therefore unaceptable. As stated, this is a very fundamental misconception that cannot be easily ignored. If this was allowed then what can we make of the rest of the books argument. In addition the book glorifies modernism without a critical colonial lens. It is as if the book purposely ignores the political conditions of Puerto Rico during the WWII implementation of modernism in the Caribbean. The book should not be discarded as it is an intellectual effort of various historians that seek to bring to light the works of Henry Klum. However it is a bit awkward at parts, it is missing a stron thesis and critical arguments.

Did not like it.

Required for RN school. I honestly did not read most of this book. I just listened to the lecture and hoped for the best. It covers topics on organizational structures, laws, leadership style, etc. Some of which was in my LPN Transition, Fundamentals, and Med-Surg book. No practice questions in the book.
