The Triumph of Odysseus is part of the highly successful Reading Greek series. It is modelled on the two existing readers: A World of Heroes (1979) and The Intellectual Revolution (1980), and like them is fully illustrated. It makes an excellent introduction to Homer for those new to him, and provides accessible and confidence-building follow-up reading for others. The book can be used by anyone who has completed Reading Greek or is at an intermediate or advanced stage of ancient Greek and it is ideal for use with students in the upper forms of schools, at university and in summer schools and weekend courses.

About the Author

Mislabeled

I bought this to study the connection between Hindu & Egyptian mysticism and mirror mythology, but was very disappointed. It's mostly wishy-washy vagaries about getting a person in touch with the astral plane. There's very little reliable referencing to actual ancient beliefs, and instead sounds more like Delaurence was attempting to fuse different systems he'd studied into some new, simplified route to "enlightenment". It would be more appropriate to call it "The Wanna-Be-Genuine Psychics Text Book". Who knows, maybe those looking for such a book would benefit.

Classic Occult Literature

This was an excellent book. I think it is a classic of occult literature. Kessinger has exactly captured the original even with orginal graphics. L.W. DeLaurence was a true mystic in his day, and this book is an excellent example of the prevailing practices and mystic thoughts of the early 20th Century. It is not a flashy book with color photos but it teaches solid practices for any aspiring occultist. If you wish to truly develop your clairvoyant abilities, this book may prove very helpful.

Fabulous Artwork from top cartoonists at Zenescope Comics. Mature Subject Matter.

This is the easiest alternative to the never ending search for back issues of Zenescope's Wonderland. As most Comic Book or Graphic Novel collectors know, the older a graphic novella, the more it increases in value and the more difficult they become to find. Here we have all issues of Zenescope Wonderland laid out in one big soft bound tome with quality printing and binding. I did read other comments where the customers stated that the binding of their books came apart or loosened. There is a way to prevent this from happening. A soft bound book of this size ought to be opened a certain way, that is; loosened up, before one actually starts reading it. I learned this from a very talented middle school English teacher and I'd like to share with you all now: Starting from approximately the middle of the book, open it about 4-6 inches. Then, from that middle point, grab about an inch thick of pages and open the book approximately the same width as you did in the middle, alternating from side to side, until you get to the front and back covers. Repeat this process about two more times, opening the book a little bit wider each time until the binding feels a bit looser. The objective is to gently break the book in so that it can be read and handled without it falling apart. I highly recommend this method on all soft bound books of this thickness, as well as; hard bound books in general. As for this collection of Wonderland; A+ artwork and story line; intended for mature readers and not because it is sexually explicit, as suggested from the cover art work. I recommend mature readers mainly because of the gruesome storyline and pictures. It's Wonderland alright, but; not the way Lewis Carroll intended it. Plot is Twisted, Entertaining and worth every penny. I Love Zenescope Comics! Enjoy!

Awesome book and mine's holding up well

My first foray into Zenescope's comics and I love it. I'm still reading it, up to Tales from Wonderland 1 I think, and the artwork is great and there's a lot of moments where I've been shocked at the plot developments, however I feel the "trilogy" this book starts off with is very slow going with not much pay off. It's clearly a dense set up for a monumental amount of stories, so this heavy tome feels like the tip of the iceberg. But a great introduction to Zenescope's mature, horror-centred takes on folk and fairy tales and classic stories like Alice in Wonderland.

Some have complained about the spine falling apart and stuff like that, I've been very careful in my reading of the book to constantly hold the spine and take care of it, just be careful as you should with any book. Glad I took a chance on ordering it despite these concerns.

Replace bad covering

The binding is clearly inferior. Basically, I was 1/4 of the way through, the cover came off in my hands--and the cover was partially glued to the last page-very odd decision. This is unfortunate because this is a great story-period. Instead, I stripped off the old brittle glue, used PVA glue, glued the spine to cloth tape, attached some old comic boards to act as new first and last pages to the tape, glued chipboard to the comic boards--effectively making a hardback book.
I honestly wished that the producers of the book had put the quality into the binding that was put into the story line. Clearly, I gave four stars because in spite of the binding, the story deserves no less.
I purchased the two grimms fairy tales omnibus. I hope they are not as bad except now, I have some idea as to modify them.
