Excellent Product!

I bought the first volume when it came out and I was blown away by the quality of the photos, the presentation and all the revelant info that is found in this magazine.Plus you only get pictures, no ads or anything unrelated.

I bought the second volume also and I wasn't disapointed and I'm eagerly waiting for the 3rd volume to come out.

If you're a fan of anything that is military or law enforcement related, you must get your hand on it, you won't regret it!

Very indepth

I have ordered this magazine since it was first available. Very easy payment (on their site) and very fast delivery (Europe).
The reason I ordered the magazine was that I wanted to see how special operations units operate and what kind of gear the different (!) units all around the world use.

All in all it provides a very good in-depth look on how Operators exercise for scenarios and how they are equipped.
I'm currently waiting for the third issue to come out and I'm very satisfied with the overall quality this magazine provides (~400 pages, no ads, high-quality photographs, short but informative texts around the photos and a longer overview for the units in the magazine)

Worth picking up

I checked out the first issue of Flashbang on the recommendation of a guy who knew the publisher/photographer of the magazine. I'd previously seen his work in other military and law enforcement related magazines, such as RAIDS, Kommando, Assault, etc., and enjoyed it.

While Flashbang is classified as a magazine, it's more like a softcover coffee table book, as it come with a hard stock embossed cover. The front of which lists the three units covered in the issue. The book is 160 pages with approximately 400 high quality photos inside, no adds, and very few captions. The captions that are provided briefly describe the unit's purpose, organization, and history, as well as a few additional comments on some the training they undergo. The book itself is broken down into a table of contents, an author's introduction, and three sub-sections covering one particular elite military or police unit. The photos in each section provide details of the equipment used as well as the typical training routine the units engage in on a day-to-day basis.

I like the layout, selection of photos, and production values of the book, and recommend it to those who are interested in military or law enforcement subjects. The one tiny complaint I have is that I would actually like to see a few additional captions to give some context to some of the photos, and not everyone reading the book may be familiar with what's taking place in a particular set of photos.

Liu is a Chinese physician and Qi Gong master who believes that he was chosen to bring Eastern and Western systems of medicine together into a complementary whole. Now practicing traditional therapies in California, Liu tells his story with the help of Perry, who coauthored the best-selling Saved by the Light (Wheeler, 1991; Random, 1994. reprint) with Dannion Brinkley. Partly biological, partly philosophical, and partly prescriptive, the book is written in the first person, which gives it a casual feel. The somewhat overly long first half describes Liu's quest to become a Qi Gong master. The second half is a more clinical description of the Qi Gong process, which uses a patient's own energy fields to achieve a state of "radiant health," or wellness, with a regimen of diet, exercise, and herbal remedies assisting in the process. Liu illustrates his method with case studies and includes recipes for healing foods. Qi Gong may seem odd to Western sensibilities, but Liu is careful to point out that it should be undertaken in conjunction with standard medical treatments and with the knowledge of a physician. In the first third of this book, Liu tells how he was instructed in one type of Chinese healing by Master Kwan, who lived in a three-room mountaintop cave and looked on the difficult climb to it as a test of motivation for patients, students, and apprentices. Kwan's striking diagnoses--achieved apparently by using only his eyes--Liu shows to be neither paranormal nor miraculous but the result of intense study and long experience. Once Liu learned the lesson of humility, Kwan became teacher rather than taskmaster. Later, when Liu, having taken his M.D., worked in a Western-style Shanghai hospital, he gradually brought his bosses around to believing Chinese medicine had much to offer. In the book's remaining two-thirds, Liu reports on several cases to show how he thinks and works; relays many herbal recipes; and describes, with illustrations, helpful exercises for both patients and those desirous of keeping good health. Liu seems to understand himself and other people, and he urges a close relationship between Chinese and Western medicines. William Beatty

Great and Interesting Book by a TRUE Master

After reading the last review by "A Customer", I felt I must write to say what a great book this is and one which contains valuable information. Qigong is valuable. Would one have value it as much if it was free? You get what you pay for. I know many including myself that have been helped or healed by Master Hong. He is a true Qigong master. I have been a life-time student of Chinese Healing and Martial Arts and hold high regards for Grandmaster Hong. I have only met a hand full of true Qigong Master of this caliber in my 35 years in the Arts. I feel very fortunate to have done this as I do not feel this way about everyone who claims to be a healer "master". Master Hong is an MD of western medicine before he found his Qigong master who transmitted the Qigong knowledge to him. He is truly amazing. He can change your life.

An amazing journey

This is one of th best books that I have ever read - and I have read many. It is the journey of this man through his passage from being a traditional doctor of medicine in the Chinese army - to the cave dwelling of his Qigong master - thru his many years of training - to his ultimate emergence as a Medical Qigong Master. Along the way - he gives wonderful insights that he encountered - which helped me to better understand the path of Medical Qigong. This book is a must read for anyone interested in the energy healing field.

Good, maybe too contemporary of a translation

An amazing book, although I have my reservations about the translation style. The author tried make it contemporary, and while I appreciate that there is a limit on what you can do without destroying the actual spirit of the writings of Plato. I managed to read an older translation (circa 1969) and appreciated that version much better. There seems to be a hot-bed of argument regarding the translation process of books the farther you go back in time. I don't intend to get into a philosophical debate when rating this as it is the matter of the book and not what is inside. If you prefer to read books with a more modern slant on translation then certainly this book will suit your needs. However if you desire for a more older English that reaches a larger vocabulary palate then I suggest looking somewhere else.

THE INDIVIDUAL AGAINST THE STATE

THE DEATH OF SOCRATES is a very inspiring book to read, especially now, when many of us may be facing the same situation he faced--though with a crucial difference. Whatever distortion of the real Socrates may have been introduced by Plato or other writers, enough comes through to paint a portrait of the first true individual in history-- the first person to be guided by his own individual conscience to do what is right, regardless of the consequences. Reading the Apology, one thrills to Socrates intransigence in the face of the Athenian jury which sentenced him to death. CRITO presents the best argument for government under law ever offered, and thus the beginning of the tradition of civil disobedience later taken up by Thoreau, Gandhi, and Martin Luther King Jr. When Socrates' friend Crito urges him to flee, saying that most people will think he was really guilty if he does not, Socrates says, "Why should we pay so much attention to what most people think?" Then he engages in a symbolic dialogue with the Law of Athens, which can be thought of as comparable to the US Constitution. It is clear that he is grateful to the Laws for having given him the opportunity to be a dissenter. The crucial fact is that they have permitted him the right to attempt to persuade his fellow citizens by permitting him free speech. Even when he was arrested for his teachings, he was allowed to speak in his own defense. Although the verdict was unjust, he was a victim not of the Laws but of his fellow men. (p. 95)

However, the tradition of civil disobedience which Socrates founded is only meaningful in a democracy, where people have the right to dissent and to have a fair and public trial. And it is rapidly becoming obsolete. For on October 17, 2006, President Bush signed into law the Military Commissions Act, initiating the gravest crisis in US history, not excepting the Civil War, Pearl Harbor, and 9/11 itself. Congress has had over a year to repeal or amend that act but has failed to do so. Now it is up for review by the Supreme Court. If that body, now nearly half-filled with "rubber stamp" justices, fails to strike down the law as unconstitutional we shall have to resort to a very different tradition than that of Socrates, one which has its roots in medieval England, and was transformed in the 17th century into John Locke's social contract theory. Jefferson expressed it in the immortal words of the Declaration of Independence: speaking of the American colonists, he wrote, "But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them to absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government and provide new guards for their future security." Faced with the prospect of living in a society which would have made his dissenting individualism impossible, I'm sure Socrates would have agreed.

Free soup for Socrates!

The life and legacy of Socrates can be interpreted in many different ways, and have been so interpreted. While that is frustrating, it could be argued that it's also inevitable. The words and deeds of great men have different effects on different people. Most scholars base their accounts of Socrates on Plato's dialogues, especially the four dialogues included in this volume: "Euthyphro", "Apology", "Crito" and "Phaedo". They deal with Socrates' trial, execution and death. And no, they don't answer the eternal questions. Rather, they raise more questions than they answer. But then, that's the point!

What makes Socrates so important? The reason, of course, is his philosophy. The whole point of philosophy is to reject tradition and revelation as automatic sources of knowledge, to be taken simply on faith. Instead, human reason is paramount. True, philosophy doesn't *necessarily* reject tradition and revelation, but it does say that such sources of knowledge should be scrutinized by reason. In this sense, philosophy is subversive and radical. At least in a society gone terribly wrong... I mean, who would need philosophy if society had been perfect?

Socrates wasn't the first philosopher, nor even necessarily the "best" one. The reason why his name has been associated with the philosophical endeavour is, of course, the story of his life and above all his death. Socrates became the first known martyr of philosophy, placing his conscience and convictions above politic. Socrates showed how dangerous philosophy can be, by questioning both the oligarchic regime of the Thirty Tyrants in Athens, and the later democracy. He was the perennial dissident, the man who questioned everyone and everything. Ironically, it was the democrats who had him railroaded and executed. A warning for the future?

I don't think Socrates was necessarily a "radical" in the modern sense of that term. He seems to have mingled in high society, and some of his friends and disciples had connections with the oligarchic regime. Neither his disciple Plato nor Plato's pupil Aristotle were democrats, not even by Greek standards. Socrates didn't seem to believe that society could be changed, and therefore tended to avoid politics, except when he was duty bound as a citizen to perform political tasks (he also fought as a soldier). In some ways, Socrates actually resembled a guru. His teachings were oral, he had a circle of admirers and disciples, and he may have imparted somewhat different teachings to each of them. There are also hints at a fundamentally religious worldview, as when Socrates says that a little god or daemon were giving him advice, when he talks of reincarnation and Heaven in "Phaedo", or when he takes seriously the oracular statements of the priestess at Delphi.

Yet, by his bold questioning of established politics, ethics and religion, Socrates nevertheless showed the radical potential of philosophy and rational discourse. On a more somber note, the trial and execution of Socrates also shows that some people, even in a democracy, simply can't stand the truth.

Basically a good book, but I think "ANU" is not quite as nice a guy as he tries to be. Will upset some readers. This book has a great deal of the real history of the earth, and the galactic wars fought here. They didn't teach you this stuff in school, and they didn't teach you this quite correctly in the Bible either but it is basically correct, and will startle and upset readers not ready for this book. It is about the "Lord God of Israel, etc., who is not the real god that many in Christianity, Islam, and Judiasm believe in. You will discover that Sodom and Gomorrah were nuked by a Platonium bomb, that the God you think you believed destroyed them is not who you thought. You will learn who "made you in the image of God". Very enlightening. If you have the feeling the truth has been covered up, you are right, and much if it is here.

One of the best spiritual books you can ever buy!

This book starts out with one woman's spiritual journey to discover who she is and why she is here; not unlike what I, and many others go through seeking answers seemingly in the dark. With heartfelt honesty, she traces her often severe trials of being a walk-in to not only overcome the many obstacles in her path but also blazes a trail that others can follow.
With her rediscovery of herself and with the help of her many guides, she gives a synopsis of the vast universal history of which we all are a part of, as well as referencing many of the humanoid and reptilian genotypes found within our galactic neighborhood.
She saves the best part for last. The crown jewel of the book, in my opinion, is the "Formula for Compassion". It is a step-by-step tool/method to deal with any of life's problems and people that seem to be an obstacle. Bottom line, it helps the individual see and learn what life lesson has presented itself in any situation. It is a simple and easy process to use, and is something that anyone can do. It is often quite surprising what you can learn about yourself with this powerful method. For those Carlos Castenada fans, it is somewhat similar to recapitulation, but unlike Castenada, it is something anyone can do without any training. She also explains how the Formula of compassion relates to DNA Recoding, Reconnection, and Activation, and how it relates to soul advancement.
Five stars is not a high enough rating for this work. For those who have been "searching for answers" for a long time, will immediately recognize the value of this book. As a reference guide, I find I continually go back and re-read many parts, often picking up things that I had missed previously. For what it has done for me, I can only thank Jelaila for writing such a down to "earth", concise, and definitive spiritual book.

Finally, A Cosmic Paradigm that Makes Sense!

In "We are the Nibiruans", the entire genetic cosmic puzzle is laid out and the pieces put together so one can see, compassionately and clearly, where one fits in the "cosmic soup" of life. If you've ever read "The 12th Planet" or similar works and yet somehow felt something was missing, or it left you cold, this book will definitely shed light and answer all your questions on the topic. It does not pit one genetic group (reptiles versus humanoid for example) against another, instead, it helps you understand where we may have come from and where we are likely headed. Not only does this work take the idea of ET connections out of the realm of theory, it prepares your psyche for real contact with compassion. Please do the planet a favor and read this book!

Self-Love is not for Sissies -- this is tough and real!

Alright, I am half-way through the exercises in the first chapter of Imagine Self-Love, and I am having a reaction. Reba Linker's book so far is taking me through simple journaling exercises that must be designed to break down my resistance to genuine, heart-centered self-love, because my resistance is coming up! I've been on the personal growth path for a while, and I am a teacher of love as well, so I recognize the symptoms. This disarmingly simple book is powerfully churning the places I default to self-deprecation or self-ignoring, because in order to love myself, I have to get real about where I am NOT letting myself be loved. I am impressed. Reba has written a powerful and useful book that demonstrates we all need to stay vigilant about self-love, especially if we are about making a big loving contribution to the world, like Reba is. I'll be back with more after I've practiced more.

Simple to do and powerful!

This journal of exercises has the amazing power to open you to loving you! What a gift! The truth is no one is ever going to know you better than you do. If you can move out of self criticism to identify all the different ways in which you appreciate and love yourself, not only will you be more empowered and joyful, you will be more impactful in your work, more loved and appreciated by others, but you will be more compassionate and patient in all aspects of your life. The exercises in Reba's journal are powerful tools for self appreciation, self love and learning to enjoy the journey of life. It is my wish that everyone has the opportunity to do this work. Reba's journal makes this work simple to do and creates powerful results.

Prepare for the emotions that this book will bring up. I saw myself and my self defeating habits in the first exercise. This is a book that you will want to put down and walk away from....and then come back. I needed time to process the emotions before being able to work through the bad habits replacing them with what I hope will be life improving habits.

I would recommend this book to every teenage and older female.
