Thought control is essential to happiness, since you must choose to be happy and not wait for outside circumstances to put you in a good mood. This book takes a down-to-earth, common-sense approach to guiding your thoughts in a positive direction. I especially like the chapter on charity, as I have personally found that serving others is one of the most positive and rewarding things you can do. There's a lot of truth to be found here. I give it 5 stars.

Thesis (M.A.) from the year 2011 in the subject Interpreting / Translating , grade: A, University of Gdansk (Institute of English), course: Translation studies, language: English, abstract: Humour translation is an extremely difficult process which causes translators many problems. Rendering humour into a different language becomes even more complicated when the translator translates film dialogues for the purpose of dubbing or subtitling. The aim of this thesis is to analyse translation strategies and techniques applied in the process of humour translation in dubbing and subtitling. The analysis is based on two animated films: Shrek 2 and Ice Age. In the thesis the original version of film dialogues is compared with its dubbed and subtitled versions in Polish. The material for the study comes from DVD releases. The thesis is divided into two chapters. In the first chapter the concept of humour is explained and humour translation is described. In this chapter I also provide definitions of translation strategy and translation technique, explain the difference between these two concepts and describe possible translation strategies and techniques in humour translation. In the second part of the first chapter the specificity of audiovisual translation is discussed, and subtitling and dubbing are described as two different translation methods. The second chapter offers a comparison between the Polish dubbed and subtitled dialogue versions. In this chapter I describe translation strategies and techniques used by the translators and compare the humorous effect evoked by them with the humorous effect of the original dialogues.

This Bible makes it possible for the average person to facilitate Bible studies, individually or in a group, without having to be a Bible scholar! Just open the Bible and start reading. This Bible is like having 50 years of experience from Gene Getz right in front of you! Having this Bible will help people learn the overall biblical story correctly. Readers can be confident that they have a correct explanation, interpretation, and application of the Scriptures. Incredible Study Bible for the Technology Guru!

So when I picked up this Bible in a Christian bookstore around Thanksgiving 2011, I knew I needed to own it someday. My iPhone 4S has a QR reader app on it and I immediately began playing around with it as I perused this Bible. The video links all work flawlessly and Dr. Gene Getz is a great speaker. He's not overly excitable or even eloquent, but he certainly gets the point across and uses real life illustrations to do so. Each of the 1,500 points scattered throughout the Bible are derived straight from Scripture as you read, and each verse that the point touches on is already highlighted for you, for focused study. The Bible even comes with a free Life Essentials QR scanning app that replaces a default QR scanner. This app includes ALL the video links by Bible Book already, in case you want to simply go through them chronologically or however you wish to study. The app works perfectly and even follows your progress by checking off videos you've already watched, and you can even tag your favorites as such for quick reference to find later.

Overall, this Bible has been an immense and valuable resource for my personal study, and my church's pastor even wants to take a look at it. Technology, when used properly, is an amazing tool for the Christian, and this Bible is leaps and bounds ahead of any other study Bible to date (which is difficult to admit because I have a growing collection of inspiring study Bibles).
