Surprised at the cut and paste job from blog posts, but all is not lost...
By KP
Cons:
Like another reviewer, I was surprised that some chapters of the book were Heather's blog posts word for word. I would have been extremely disappointed with this had I purchased the book, but as an Amazon Prime member, I was eligible to read this book for free on my Kindle. With the verbatim blog posts, I'm happy I did not pay to read this. Also, I was struck by the many mechanical (grammar & punctuation) errors. While this may not be an issue to some, the quality of any work is most certainly affected by its attention to (or lack thereof) to grammar and mechanics.

Pros:
In spite of these two "cons," the book was a lovely read. I believe one reviewer said it was like drinking a nice green smoothie or tea--one that cleanses and refreshes you. Indeed, I agree. It was written in a "Hey girl, let me chat with you tone," and on the one hand, that could come off as patronizing, but Heather has always presented herself as a sister to those who follow her and her husband's ministry on Facebook, through her blog, and through PP. In this regard, the "Hey girl" tone is totally appropriate.

Suggestions:
I would actually champion Heather to create a second edition to the book for three reasons. The first reason, of course, would be to have an editor look over the mechanical errors. The second reason is to extend the chapters that are verbatim blog posts. The third reason is to include discussion questions or "end of chapter" summary information. This book seems like a nice book to read either in a Pinky Promise Book Club, a single's ministry, married women's ministry, or general women's ministry at a church. Discussion questions or "points to ponder" or "scriptures of note" blocked off at the end of each chapter will encourage the readers to re-examine what they've read and engage in a dialogue with those around them. Such an examination is necessary, especially considering that self-examination is one of the many keys to growing in Christ.

Be blessed, loves!

Good Intentions…But Disappointing!
By Cgriggs
I received this book today... (June 2, 2014). I was very excited to start reading this book. I actually read this book in one day. It is a very easy read; on the other hand, I had to overlook the inconsistencies in the book (storytelling), shift in verb tenses, grammar, & punctuation errors. I enjoyed the message that Heather Lindsey was attempting to convey. Two inconsistencies that I noticed while reading this book were the following: (1). In chapter 8 entitled… “The Joys of Being Single”, Heather mentions a list of what she calls *My List of Wants in a Husband-2006*; in the next chapter, she says it was in 2005. (2). In a later chapter, she says that there is s difference between *dating* and *courting*. Shortly after this statement, she uses the words interchangeably which was somewhat confusing considering the statement that she made previously regarding the two words.

As another reviewer mentioned, there were… “Many mechanical (grammar & punctuation) errors. While this may not be an issue to some, the quality of any work is most certainly affected by its attention to (or lack thereof) to grammar and mechanics.”…
Overall, Heather Lindsey had good intentions, but the intentions became blurred and hard to follow and at times even complicated to understand due to the inconsistencies in the book (storytelling), shift in verb tenses, grammar, & punctuation errors. I was somewhat disappointed in this aspect of the book, but I thoroughly enjoyed the inspirational, truthful aspect of this book’s message/purpose.

Pros: This book was an “Easy Read”. I read it in one sitting/one day.

Cons: This book possessed many inconsistencies in the storytelling aspect, shift in verb tenses, grammar, & punctuation errors. This book was also very redundant.

Suggestions: Perhaps, this book could be revised and published again with the corrections.

Ultimately, Heather Lindsey’s life story is very touching and inspiring. In some ways, I feel like my life is parallel to her life story and struggles. I like the “Pinky Promise” movement as well as her continual commitment to God.

A little disappointing...
By K. Lewis
I was a little disappointed only because I've read all of Mrs. Lindsey's blogs and I was expecting more. Some chapters are literally blog posts word for word. There's a bit more material here and there. Nonetheless, it's good to have it all in one publication and I'm sure many women will find areas speaking to them.
